As always I am late to a trend again. This time it's bullet journalling - a system of organisation that seems to have taken the entire world by storm.
Bullet journals are typically created in dotted or grid lined notebooks and are intended as a way of planning everything in your life; to do lists, calendars, savings goals, habit trackers and inspiration all sit side by side in a notebook crammed with ideas and information. You might have seen them on Pinterest or instagram. Obviously I needed one.
Being a little bit of a student (aka - cheapskate) meant that I couldn't spring for the coveted Leuchturm 1917 that all the cool kids are using, so instead I went for an orchid coloured soft cover dotted moleksine. Just a word of advice - check what size notebook you're buying, as my moleskine is not the A5 size that is normally used for a bullet journal, it's actually a rather small pocket size (about A6). Personally this doesn't bother me but as you'll see from the photos below, it can inhibit you slightly if you want to follow the 'traditional' BuJo style.
Without further ado, let's get inside my BuJo!
Firstly, There is no index. Not being one for rules, or indexes, I opted not to have one in my BuJo. I don't use them, I forget to fill them in and I couldn't be bothered to write 100 numbers on the bottom of my pages. I don't think personally you need an index to make a bullet journal, especially if your notebook has a divider in it. I also don't have a key (more on that later).
My first page might actually be one of my favourites, even though I probably shouldn't have put in on a single page. I have wanted to track how often and how hard I work out at the gym for ages - partly for fitness reasons, partly for interest and partly for money reasons - and always found it difficult. I find that if I write in my personal diary that I'm going to the gym it gets lost and I can't visually see what I've done. This little tracker makes it super simple and quick to see when I last went and whether or not I've worked as hard as I wanted to.
The workout log continues into the second page, as I wanted to use it for more than two months. On the opposite side of the page I started my first daily page. For my first to do list, I tried to write nicely and put each letter in it's own little box but with a BuJo this small it's a bit difficult to do. Later to do lists just involve writing as I see fit... You'll notice as well that I don't really use the 'correct' symbols in my journal; I find it really difficult to look at a list and say "Yes, that's done" if it's not super obvious. So I've gone with a simple system - box completely coloured for a task completed, box half coloured for a task half completed, box crossed through for a task I didn't do and an arrow if I need to do it tomorrow/some other day. I'm not sure I need much else in my lists, to be honest.
Another couple of daily task lists on these pages, and a reading log. I don't particularly like the reading log because it doesn't really fit a purpose but this is because the notebook is too small - I'd much rather have it in a landscape orientation than a portrait one. No, I still haven't finished Kafka on the Shore (I am cursed with an inability to read the final 70 pages of any book).
Probably my favourite spread in my journal right here. It's a habit tracker designed to track over 6 months whether I'm drinking enough water, not spending enough money and doing enough studying. The studying one is slightly redundant at the moment as I'm on break from university but it's nice to have. I fear that the 2 hour or more limit may have been set too high, but we'll see. I may compromise on that in the future... I can't wait to see this spread completed!
Just a basic, badly drawn, badly thought out future log. I probably won't use something like this again - I write future appointments in my actual diary (I have another A5 moleskine in orchid that I use to remember assignment dates, future appointments, where I'm meant to be on a specific day etc.) But that's ok.
On the left hand side I have created a savings jar; I'm hoping to have this completed by the time I return to university in five weeks (what can I say, I am nothing if not ambitious). I really like this style of savings chart; it helps me keep accountable to actually moving and keeping money in my savings. I may write my starting balance on the page somewhere to remind me what I'm working with. On the right and the subsequent two double page spreads I have listed all the Olympic events that I want to watch this year and when they're on. Or, I will write in when they're on when I get round to it.
I'm planning to draw something in the blank space below the end of the Olympic schedule here. Just another set of daily trackers - actually, probably my favourite set. They're neat, to the point and most importantly FILLED IN! As my journal is more of a task list than a daily diary I don't have days for Thursday and Friday of that week; I was too busy with work so I actually didn't do much worth writing in my journal.
Again, I'm planning to draw something in the space below the end of the diary on the left hand side. I am absolutely in love with my placement notes to do list - I wish all my pages had turned out like this spread! I think that when I've got the drawings done these two double pages could become my favourites in my book. For my placement next semester I'll be working in an inpatient ward for women suffering from the listed illnesses so I need to get my learning done! I'm very excited to go and having somewhere to log what I have written up and what I need to look at is really useful.
Ooph. Basic spending log on the left, again highlighting the error of choosing a small notebook to do this in. I've been trying to write everything in my journal in my Staedtler pens but I was at work when I put the last two amounts in and so they look really scruffy... I don't like the daily lists on the other side either. I need to figure out a decent way of tracking my mood (it's been terrible most of this week) which is why there's a random sad face but it's still in the planning stages atm.
I had some bad news yesterday so I didn't get any of my (two) tasks done when I got home from work - I'm not ashamed to admit I came home, got chinese food and cried whilst watching a movie. Rough day. I do like the dissertation ideas spread on the other side but I wish I'd done it on a double page so I could have put more ideas down. It's crazy that I need to be thinking of this already when I only started my course in January but hey! Needs must. So I'm trying to be organised and get my ideas in one place as much as possible. I'll need to go into each of these topics and research them further at some point, so it's good to have a starting place.
As you can see, as I've used my BuJo more, my daily pages have started to evolve. I have very little need for a monthly spread at the moment but one of the problems with the smaller size journal is that it's only about 40 boxes wide (see the habit tracker below) so doing any kind of substantial monthly layout is impossible. This doesn't bother me massively though. It is a bit of a different take on bullet journalling but I think the underlying message is that you can adapt this system to suit you, your life and most importantly, what you have already. You don't need to go and buy fancy expensive notebooks and pens, you can do this any way you want!
I'm using the Staedtler rollerball pens, as you can see above. I do like them and you can see that they don't bleed through but they do have a tendency to smudge which is more than a little irritating. There's also a limited range of colours but I think you can get a bigger pack if you want.
I love seeing other people's different takes on bullet journalling and the spreads they come up with so please comment below if you have a BuJo blog!

The Progression of Planning
In my last post regarding my Personal sized Finsbury, which was, ahem, over a year ago now, I was using it fairly regularly and quite enjoyed the different things I found to go in it. Now a busy full time job, gym schedule, moving house, two weddings, two deaths and a break up later - and I barely have time to use it at all.
In fact, shamefully, until I wrote this post I wasn't even sure where it was... (I blame the very recent house move for that). When I found it though, I did find a couple of weeks with the lovely diary insert that I bought off of Etsy that I thought were worth sharing -
Delving back into this blog got me thinking though - could I manage my time better, and if I could, how would I do it? Does it really just take a little bit more planning and effort to fix all the time management problems in my life? Or are some people, like myself, just destined to always be chasing their tails no matter how many Filofaxes, Dodo Pads, Midoris and Google Calendars they have?
At work I find sometimes that I forget about events until the last minute, which is not great when most of my job is focused around events and is punctuated by meetings and a long to-do list. I use a DoDo pad but for the most part, I use it just for logging in my annual leave hours. It never leaves the office - which makes it a bit pointless!
I don't even use my A4 Metropol and I have no idea where my A5 or Domino are. Shame on me!
I think I'm going to see if I can get back into using my filofaxes, otherwise in the new year it may be time to let at least one of them go.

Inside my Personal Filo (video update)
Excuse the clunky title...
I rather enjoyed making my Smashbook video last weekend so I thought I'd make an updated version of my old 'Inside my Filo' video from 10 months ago. My filo has changed somewhat!
I tried to keep it short and failed miserably I'm afraid, it's just under 10 minutes long. Whoops.
I will be posting a 'my week' post soon to discuss how I'm organising my weeks in more detail so stay tuned for that! Anyone else a video addict? They are so much fun to make. I would love to see your videos too so please leave me a comment either on Youtube or this post with your username etc. so I can check more people out.

My week 17/06/13 - 23/06/13
In an effort to brighten my planner up a bit, I've been experimenting with washi tape and diving the diary pages up. I don't think I'll stay in the standard FF diary insert next year - the weekends annoy me, the design feels stuffy and I find it really uninspiring. Hopefully by January I'll have a decent enough job so that I can afford some nice expensive inserts!
My apologies for the large pixelated bits, those are secret blog post ideas that you can't see yet! Since finishing uni I've not been doing much really, which is why my diary is basically a workout log right now. I should be starting work at the end of July though and when I do I can start pole dancing again (a hobby I picked up at uni) and can join a few clubs or something so that I'm not so bored! I do have a possible little project that I may be unveiling in a few weeks time if all goes to plan... So watch this space.

Blog planning sheets
Now that I've got time to blog again, I've got a lot of ideas for upcoming blog posts that I want to write and post. I started writing titles down in my diary - but this doesn't give much scope for long titles, changes and a general record of when things have been written and are ready to go. So I grabbed an old to-do list and made my own blog post record sheet!
So what's going on on this insert? Well, it's slightly customised as you can see. Here's a closer view:
The first row is the title of the blog post and any specifics I need to put in (for instance, the name of the polish I'm featuring). The second row, split into three sections, is the most important - on the left I have a check box for whether or not I've written the post yet (W), then a box for whether or not I've photographed the things I need for the post (Ph) and finally, the date that I'm going to post the piece on. Some of them have dates but some of them have 'queue' written in this box - these are my back up, 'Oh man, I haven't got time to blog today!' throw away posts that are a bit generic and I can just log on and post it without having to worry about what I'm writing when I'm short of time. The two different colours represent my two different blogs; my nail and beauty blog is in pink and this blog is in blue. This helps me keep track of how many posts I've written for each one and when I posted them so that I don't post too much on one and not enough on the other.
By knowing what I want to write I can be sure that I won't have writers block and when I've got a spare evening, I can sit down and work on one of my posts! Win! The only problem is... this was my last sheet of 'to do' lists so I'm going to have to figure out whether I want to buy a new pack (hopefully in cotton cream does anyone know if they do them?) and customise them myself again or if I want to try and make my own up. Decisions, decisions...
Does anyone else plan their blog posts? How do you do it?

Dilemma... again.
Now that the end of uni is very much insight I need to figure out what to do with the two filofaxes I don't use - my pocket Domino (you can read about it's discovery here) and my A4 zip Metropol (previous post detailing it's major failings here). My personal Finsbury is definitely staying right where it is, but these two may soon find themselves on the Adspot or ebay...
The Domino has been sat in my desk for the last 6 months picking up dust. I started using it as a nail varnish catalogue but I've found Evernote to be better for this, and my passion for nail polish is starting to wane somewhat as I have no money to buy it and my nails are in awful condition from too much acetone :( Since I got it from a charity shop, and it's in fairly 'well loved' condition, I might just donate it back into the system again.
The saga of the Metropol is definitely ongoing... in the end, I did store my uni notes for my dissertation etc. in it but the diary was quickly removed and it became a glorified ringbinder. After uni I want to take up learning languages again but I'm unsure whether it will be worth keeping hold of just for this sake. I'd need to spruce up the dividers (and maybe finish my drawings on them, 'cos that never happened...) but unless I was writing comprehension out, or self testing, I can't see myself using it that much. Another option is using it as a pure financial records holder; something that I need to learn but equally for someone who is *awful* with numbers something that is quite daunting.
Sigh. It's tricky! Moving into a smaller flat has definitely got my 'GET RID OF ALL POSSESSIONS' urges going :/

My past few weeks
It's been hectic here! This time next week I will be officially moved in with my wonderful boyfriend and I will have (largely) moved out of my university house - only returning at the end of May to finish up uni work by presenting my dissertation to a group of markers. It's been a wild three years full of love, laughter and far too many tears and I'm not really sure how I feel about leaving this little town; but being able to live with my boyfriend and close to my family rather than having to make a 5 hour door to door trip will be amazing.
As you can imagine, the end of uni has meant that I've been pretty hectic so my filo has been put to good use. Here's the last four weeks in my diary pages:
And here's the week coming up:
I always feel, no matter what, my diary pages are quite clunky and unappealing to look at :( I need to stop writing things in with black felt tip in big letters I think! Even though I'm finishing uni on Thursday I'm very busy over the next three months so having my filo to hand is going to be even more important.

Cult Pens Haul
I don't normally splurge on pens, but occasionally you just have to don't you? I'd never ordered from Cult Pens before but I decided to give it a go, especially as their postage rates were cheap (free over £10) and they have such a wide selection.
I ended up getting an assortment of pens; one calligraphy liner, two fineliners, one highlighter, one gel pen and four rollerballs. Whoops. I swatched them all and then decided that in this post I would rather focus on the four rollerball pens, as they will be the ones I'll be using the most often in my Filofax and generally. I tested them all on filofax paper and on the scrap paper I use to make most of my blank inserts as this is what you find in my filofax!
As you can see, all four write really nicely and there's not a massive amount of show through on the other side. Whilst there is a little bit from the Uni-ball it's not enough to put me off using it on this paper. I imagine that cotton cream filofax paper would have similar results as the scrap paper I use is comparable to the weight and colour of it (even though it looks a bit grey in these photos).
Now for the filofax paper - again I just used some random address paper scraps I had lying around as I didn't want to ruin my diary if they bled or were bad for showing through!
As you can see, on the Filofax page none of them are particularly good at being invisible on the underside and the Uni-ball Elite in particular is quite prominent. However it's not as bad as some pens I've used! I think I'm going to do a trial run of using the Antique pens in my Finsbury as the main writing implement. They all make my handwriting lovely and neat which makes me very happy! They'll be great to use in my revision posters and notes for my upcoming final exams. Definitely a good purchase!

Student Organisation Tips
... AKA 'Complete Chaos That Works (sometimes)'
I finish university for good in six weeks time - I'm all done with education on the 31st of May! This is both a terrifying and fantastic thought train because quite frankly I have no idea what I want to do with my life, even though I'll be turning 23 5 days before I leave higher education. Crazy, huh?
Over my time at uni, my organisational skills have definitely developed. Whilst in the beginning they were not fantastic, they are now pretty damn good! Here's a brief overview of my desk-centric system:
The week planner

Bright, colourful and most importantly - Simple. It tells me where I need to be and when. This sits on the side of my desk so I can see it at a glance and note where I should be at that time. I've written in the times I want to wake up so I can set my alarm appropriately the night before.
Even though it's plain, the front cover of this little week planner is covered with cute little bunnies and is so gorgeous that I barely want to use it! It came from Artbox but unfortunately isn't sold any more. I actually thought it was going to be bigger when I bought it so I was a tad disappointed when it arrived and was so small (it's really tiny - it's about half the height of a postcard) as I was imagining something more similar to the A4 Paperchase weekly planners. But it does the job and it takes up hardly any room on my desk!
The list pad
Purple is one of my favourite colours so when I spotted this list pad in Staples for just 83p I knew I wanted it! It has 100 sheets of paper each in the same style and it sits on the side of my desk so I can jot down anything that comes to mind whilst I'm working away. I currently have three different pages on the go and I haven't pulled any off - they're really well bound at the top so they're all on fine even though I've been flipping between them. One page has to-do lists for uni work, one has random uni work notes, and one has 'other' to do lists on it. Typically, all my to-do lists here are long term assignment related ones. The notes section at the bottom is really handy too.
I'll let you into a secret - I actually bought this with the idea of cutting it down for filofax inserts, but in the end I decided it worked just fine as it was. And I'm pretty happy I kept it that way :)
The post it
Ok, this actually a new addition to my organisation - normally I keep my post-it to do lists on my dashboard in my FF. But as I'm using my filofax every day now it's impossible to have it open on two pages and therefore the to-do list gets ignored! So I've taken to sticking the post-it on the side of my desk where I can see it from across the room and know that it should not be ignored ;) Currently my post-it to do list has a simple outline of all the things I have to do over the next month as I keep forgetting what is actually coming up uni assignment wise; when you have so many things to do it gets confusing! Admittedly this is probably a step too far and doesn't really need to be in my organisation system but I enjoy it being there.
Finally... the big Daddy of the system...
Filofax
My filo is always very messy - I tend to write as I think of things and I just can't seem to get the hang of making it all pretty and lovely. Plus when I'm rushed I write like a child so half the handwriting is neat and half is grossly untidy... It makes me sad. Anyway. In my organisation system, my filofax is where I write down basically everything; if I need to know about it or do then it's probably on these pages! I have planned meals for the week, written in all my appointments (well, almost all), to do tasks, places I'm going, things I want to achieve and occasionally a nice quote or pretty bit of washi tape. I carry it with me wherever I go even though it's getting a bit heavy now :/ When I finish uni I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with my FF, as when I've not got deadlines and things to do I don't bother writing in it. I'm transitioning the back section into a job hunting guide (based on Paper Lovestory's amazing guide here) but I don't know how much more I will be able to use it for... That's another post though that I will write in a few weeks time!
So that's basically how I organise myself now that I have a lot of appointments to keep up with! The temptation is to spend my time organising but I guess at some point I will need to actually do the work on the to do lists, haha. If you're heading to uni then getting organised is a great idea and if you're leaving it like I am soon, then good luck!

My Week #2 (+3)
Whoops, last week got kinda busy at the end and I didn't have time to post my photo before Paper did her review so I thought I'd just keep it til this week (after all, it's not going anywhere!). This week has been less busy but still quite hectic - it's tiring work being in your last semester of university!
In week 2 I tried out a new tactic of colour coding each day separately, as you can see...
Not really my favourite thing if I'm honest. I love colour but it's too much and it's still really quite messy - plus it's a hassle trying to keep hold of the same pen for the day and remembering to switch when I need to write something new in etc. etc.
Week 3 I tried out another new tactic, this time writing everything in my fountain pen (which is black ink, I swear, but for some reason dries a really weird light brown colour... like it was written 100 years ago!). This I much prefer - the stickers and washi tape add colour but it's much neater and more organised. I think I will probably be sticking with this and just using one colour for very important dates.
For those that are interested, this is dried fountain pen ink vs fresh ink...
Odd, right?! Ah well. I quite like the brown... would be nice to have it stay black though.
I hope you've all had a good week :)

My Week #1
Now I'm sure most of you have already heard about this through Philofaxy, but I was a little late to the party so I'm starting 4 weeks in! Yes, I'm doing Paper Lovestory's 'my week' blog post train!
For those who haven't seen it, reading this blog post will explain it a little better than I can. And onto my first week!
Ok, so right at the top on the Monday header I have my budget aim for the week - this will probably stay pretty static but may change if and when I find some money! This week I aimed for £20 on everything. I did ok until yesterday when I went to go watch the rugby, had a few drinks and ended up going out * embarrassed face*. I'd been working hard all week and just needed to let my hair down! As you can see, that meant that basically nothing I had planned to do on Saturday actually got done... oh well. I had a £10 'emergency' budget fund built in (not written that down because if I do then I'll take advantage of it too much) and so in the end ending the week £12.85 over budget. Not bad, but next week needs to be better! NSD stands for 'no spend day' and means that I didn't buy anything on that day. I am aiming for a lot of these!
I've written in my lectures and commitments at the start of the week so I know where I *must* be at what time. Everything else after that is what I need to do or am attending but don't have to go to (like societies).
Down the side I have my post it notes, these were on the pages but I took them off for easy viewing. The yellow one details items I've bought online and am waiting to arrive, the stripey blue and white one is blog posts I need to write and photograph and the white one is a list of my goals for the coming month. I may have slightly failed on the last one already but I was not completely sober so I guess a little pasta sauce with meat in isn't a massive crime!
I hate how untidy and messy this week is. Next week I'm going to trial new pens and writing in one colour per day/per 'thought' and see if that's neater. I dislike the messy vibe it has going on!
So, how has your week been? Is your planner as messy as mine? Or are you as neat as possible? As many colours as possible or monochrome? Also, what do you think of the new blog layout and design? Let me know in the comments!

Revamped my Finsbury! Less is definitely more
Now, I moan occasionally about how I don't use my filofax very much and it doesn't seem to have a purpose... but I think I might have cracked it now with a 'less is more' approach.
In my old setup I had everything - addresses, diary, important websites, notes, to do lists, to read lists, to bake lists, gym tracker, weight tracker, things to remember, things to forget, sticker sheets everywhere... It was a mess and I hardly ever used it (apart from the gym tracker). In the end it just sat in my desk looking sad and neglected but stuffed to the gills with *things* that I never used! The start of the new university year was just the oomph I needed to do some revamping.
Gone are the pointless sheets of paper that I never used - the things to remember, the to do/bake/read lists (I catalogue these now in the diary section and with my good reads profile), the addresses, important websites... the wadge of note paper! It feels a little empty but it now functions better and is on the way to lying flat. It was never going to flatten out with that much crap in it!
Here comes the picture heavy new layout...
I've kept the dash/start pretty much the same, though I may do away with the postcard and owl at some point... Remember, less is more!
The astute of you will notice that this is not a current week in my diary. This is because I am channeling my inner PaperLovestory and will be posting weekly shots of my week - I have to say, it's the first time in a long time that I've actually been organised and I'm loving it! I've started writing in it throughout the day, using colour and stickers and getting stuff done so I can have a nicely ticked page at the end of the week! Strangely this is a massive motivator for me, but odder things have happened. This is just a little sneak preview of the way I'm now putting things in my diary :) I also have a 2013 year calendar which I've marked down important dates on and a blank sheet of notepaper headed as 'Important 2014 dates' so if anything comes up that I need to remember to put in my diary for 2014 - I have it there and ready with no need to faff or take up diary space. I need that space for stickers!
Behind the third tab is a random space really, it's just a card holder with some sticky notes in. I may change this and put something 'useful' in but for now it's working for me. Later on this year I may use it as a CV/career section.
Behind the final tab I have three sheets of paper - one with my goals for 2013 on, one with important addresses that I don't know on and one spare. That's all I need right now! In the back zipper pocket I still have some sticker clutter but it's not adding bulk and I do use them so it's ok for now. It won't be like that for long though! I need to figure out a good way of storing and displaying my sticker sheets. Oh, and I need more sticker sheets.
So there we have it! As I have revamped my Finsbury, my next job is to smarten up this blog - It's a bit drab right now! So changes will be afoot. Don't be alarmed! I will be back on Sunday with my weekly round up. See you then!

Remember I said I had loads of stickers flying around? Well, no longer! This is my solution. I've stuck my stickers (that track my gym workouts) onto the front of my first monthly diary page so that they're always on hand! I'm keeping the monthly workout pages I have done from last year so that I can keep an eye on how much I'm going to the gym. So far I've been something like 12 times since I started the membership in October (not great, but I was home a lot last semester) which is about a third of the way to my goal of making my membership fee back. Again, probably strange motivation but it gets me there! Every workout I do, I stick a star on the day and write the calorie burn underneath just for the interesting aspect of it. I block out days when I'm not at uni as I can't gym when I'm 240 miles away from it!

New Year - New Filo?
Happy 2013! Let's hope it's a good one :)
The title is a little misleading - no, I won't be buying a new filofax as I own three already! However this year I want to use my personal Finsbury for an actual use. Currently it sits in my desk at uni and I use it to record when I go to the gym, and what I do there - and that's all.
So I need a decent useage for it. I'm going to start applying for jobs soon (as I graduate in July, eep!) and I'm hoping to move in with my OH as soon as possible after leaving uni. I've used the finance sheets that come from Filofax themselves but honestly, I found them too small to use properly and useless for budget planning. I think this year I'd like to try using my Filo as a way to keep track of my money my way, shopping lists, wants and needs, savings, meal planning, job apps, possible flats to look at as well as the gym record.
I need to figure out a good set up for the above uses then. Hmm. I have no idea where to start with budget planning or set up and it's bothering me a lot! Maybe I'll go with just blank pages and write on those, keeping it organised into sections. Hmm.
I might look at selling my A4 metropol, I rarely use it. I will almost certainly be selling it in July when I've graduated as I won't have a use for it anymore.

Having a major Filo-fail...
Not posted a lot because a) my new uni house that I moved into two weeks ago doesn't have internet yet and b) I've majorly crashed and burned as a Filofax user recently.
I have three filofaxes. My pocket Domino is working alright as a nail varnish catalogue, but it's just a bit... meh. I've got some more paper for it from Paperchase but I don't feel wowed by it. It's just a bit of clutter really at the moment.
My personal Finsbury is currently languishing on my desk at uni (yes, I didn't even bring it home with me for the long weekend I'm back, shameful!) as I just don't have a proper use for it right now. I write all my appointments and uni work in my academic diary. I don't keep a track of anything else really, having had bad experiences with trying to track 'every day' things like food intake in the past. I have my stamps in it but it's a damn expensive stamp holder!
My A4 Metropol is currently the biggest fail and bothering me the most if I'm honest. I imagined before I went back to uni that I'd take it with me to all my lectures, make notes in it, write important assignments, put handouts in it, keep a track of readings etc. but I've only had three lectures so far and already it's been left at home! For the last two years, my lectures have been in one big hall with chairs that have a desk attached - thus an A4 filo would've been the perfect solution when space is limited. However this year all my lectures are in 'proper' (American style) lecture halls where I have a wide bench in front of me to lean on - wide, but narrower than A4 so the oversized Metropol juts off the front and bangs into the head of the person sitting in front. Hence I've just been using an A4 paper pad and slotting any handouts into it before transferring to a file for future reference. Notes are then typed up and filed away. So, no need really for an A4 filofax...
Sigh. Sorely tempted to try and sell it on ebay. Opinions?

A new addition!
This summer I decided that since it's damn near impossible around here to find a short term paid job, I would work in a charity shop for a little while. Unfortunately this week saw my last shift but it doesn't stop me from browsing charity shops! I think working in a charity shop has given me a new found respect for shopping in them; you really can find some little gems.
Such as... *drum roll*
Swoon!
A pocket chocolate Domino, in fairly good nick for the princely sum of £2! The inserts are untouched (apart from the plastic surrounding) and there are just a couple of scuffs on the outside. The elastic is also slightly loose (does anyone know how to/if it's possible to tighten it?). I think it's probably been given as a gift and then not really used as there seems to be signals that it's quite old and has been left in a drawer for some time... see:
First thing to be axed - the 2009/2010 diary, methinks!
My favourite thing is it has a world map insert, haha. Such a fickle person I am :D It has a top opening wallet at the back too. Shame it's not personal size as I'd be snagging them for my Finsbury! I also love that the pen holder actually holds a pen, rather than my Finsbury which doesn't because it's too damn tight...
Here's my little filo family now:
A4 Zipped Metropol, Personal Finsbury, Pocket Domino
Something that strikes me is how small the Domino is - it's definitely a pocket sized, all the inserts and the cover stamp say pocket; but it's nearly half the size of my personal Finsbury?! Crazy.
Usewise I kind of went on a 'buy now, figure out uses later' approach. Current hot idea is a catalogue of all the nail varnishes I own sorted by brand and divided using the ABC tabs, and keeping a running list of what I have in my larder/fridge and what I need to buy when I do a big shop. I currently do small shopping lists on a post it note on the fly sheet of my Finsbury but for longer lists, this may be perfect!
Does anyone else have a pocket Domino? What do you use it for?

Youtube Debut
Yes, my youtube debut :D I'm not sure (if) when I'm going to do any more videos, but it was fun to do anyway so it probably will be soon! I'd say sub to my youtube channel but there's not much on it yet.

Insert printing drama
I've always considered myself ok with computers, about a 6 out of ten on the competency scale I guess. But for the life of me, I just can't get inserts for my personal filofax printed out properly!
I've tried printing one side, then flipping and printing the other. I've tried to graphically represent what generally happens...

Whereas what I want to happen is this...
I've tried flipping the paper differently, setting the pages up differently, even playing with the templates and move the second page over to the left more and it still prints out wonky. I'm running out of paper to play with now! Help!

Introducing my filofaxes
I have two filofaxes - a personal sized pink (pink? rose? I dunno) Finsbury and a black A4 zipped metropol. The second is, unfortunately rather boring to look at on the outside, and currently even more boring to look at on the inside, as it's my university folder; so is currently being used as an occasional diary and not much else. The first, however, is quite pretty and fun!
I will at a later date, do a post or four about the insides of these two beauties, but for now all that's needed is a little sneak-y peek!
I envision this blog as a place for me to squee about awesomely cute stationery, keep an update on my life through my filofaxes, and share a little bit of wanton enthusiasm for material items with some like minded people!
